COVID-19 Update; four new cases & five more recoveries in Muskoka Friday

SHARE ON: The local health unit recorded four new cases of COVID-19 and five recoveries in the District of Muskoka today(Friday) placing the district at 65 active cases. Three cases, two female minors and a males 45 to 64 years old, were added in Bracebridge and one more local recovered, placing the town at 25 active cases including one in hospital.  In Huntsville, a 45 to 64 year old male tested positive and two more locals recovered placing the town’s active case count at 17. One recovery each was reported in Lake of Bays, standing at six active cases, and Muskoka Lakes, standing at seven active cases.

  BARRIE, ONT. Health officials in Simcoe Muskoka report more than 100 COVID-19 cases Friday and another death linked to the virus. The region s health unit logged 106 infections in the last 24 hours, for a total of 430 new cases this week, a significant dip from the week before, which had 712 cases reported. The death count reached 219 after a Simcoe County woman, 65 to 79, passed away from COVID-19 Thursday. So far, in April, 16 residents have lost their lives to the disease. Barrie business chair should be removed for derogatory remarks on video: integrity commissioner

Rob Hamilton, who is also Barrie s former mayor, ought to have known comments he made last fall were inappropriate, offensive, insulting or derogatory, said Suzanne Craig in her decision, released Thursday. That decision has been sent to Barrie s city council. CBC Toronto has contacted the Downtown Barrie BIA s executive director to see if Hamilton will step aside voluntarily, but hasn t received a response at this time.
