Former 1966 Texas Western Forward Jerry Armstrong Dies
Jerry Armstrong, a key member of the 1966 Texas Western Miners National Championship team, died this morning at the age of 76. Armstrong s nephew Matt from North Carolina called into the Dan Patrick radio show this morning and relayed the news. According to a source, he had been battling cancer and had been receiving treatment.
Armstrong played three seasons for Don Haskins and developed a reputation for his defensive play. He started against Kansas in the 1966 NCAA regional finals and his defense against Utah star Jerry Chambers in the second half of the National semifinals helped propel the Miners into the title game against Kentucky. Armstrong he did not play against Kentucky, which head coach Don Haskins later apologized for.
There’s not a person on the SouthCoast that doesn’t know who Tom Brady is, but did you know he could speak Portuguese? He showed off for reporters, but how did he do? I need some help from my SouthCoast Portuguese friends.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback was speaking to the media about Super Bowl LV on Sunday, February 7 when a member of Portuguese media caught his attention.
The interviewer behind the camera asked, “Could you say hi to your many, many fans in Brazil who don’t know how many Portuguese words you know and can say? They would be so happy.”
Former NFL Coach Jeff Fisher says he is definitely interested in the Montana State University Bobcats head coaching position. We spoke with Fisher on Thursday s Montana Talks statewide radio show, in an exclusive interview with host Aaron Flint.
While he says he is in a good position in life right now, Fisher says of course he would be interested in the head coaching job at MSU. He has a cabin at Hebgen Lake, and several friends and family members in Bozeman. But he also says that he misses coaching, and would like the opportunity to get to help mentor young players earlier in their career.
Here is who I think will win the Big Game on Sunday between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Super Bowl is finally upon us, after a season that will always be remembered for the difficulties due to COVID-19, the NFL proved they could make it to the end of the year and get to the Big Game on time. No one is surprised by the fact that the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs are back in this game, but after an up and down season first season for Tom Brady in Tampa that saw the Bucs get a Wild Card spot, me and many others didn t see them making it to the championship game. But the Bucs are here and they are at home, which has never been done before, which is certainly a big advantage for Tampa, and they will need all the help they can get against KC.
