COVID-19 UPDATE: 9 new cases, 12 discharged

April 22, 2021 There were nine new COVID-19 positive cases – four males and five females – recorded on Wednesday, April 21, from the 365 tests carried out by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory. Meanwhile, 12 people recovered from the viral illness. There are currently 84 persons in isolation. Barbados’ confirmed cases of COVID-19 have moved to 3,806 (1,853 females and 1,953 males), and there have been 3,716 recoveries. Forty-four persons have died from the virus. The public health laboratory has conducted 150,191 tests, since February 2020. To date, 71,350 vaccinations have been administered – 29,471 men and 41,879 women. They were identified among the 813 tests carried out by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory. Two people were also discharged. Currently, there are 86 people in isolation. Since the start of the pandemic, Barbados has recorded 3 820 confirmed cases (1 860 women and 1 960 men) out of the 151 004 tests conducted. Meanwhile, 3 718 people have recovered from the viral illness. Forty-four deaths have occurred. Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, a total of 71 648 people – 29 633 men and 42 015 women – have been vaccinated. (BGIS)
