Increased visitors, second tests for all travellers and retests for positive cases are seeing Barbados conduct over 1,000 tests daily as a new norm this month and it s resulting in result delays.
Therefore, the Ministry of Health and Wellness is advising travellers to Barbados that it may take more than 24 hours for their COVID-19 results from the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

Barbados recorded two more cases of COVID-19 on Monday, while six people were released from isolation.
The new cases are a 22-year-old male visitor who arrived on British Airways on December 19 and a 21-year-old female visitor who came in on British Airways on December 20. Both of them were asymptomatic and tested positive on their second tests.
Theirs were the only positive tests among the 1 455 conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.
There are now 32 people in isolation, and 329 confirmed cases of the viral illness – 173 females and 156 males. To date, there have been 290 recoveries and seven deaths.
The public health laboratory completed 63 378 tests since February. (

The Ministry of Health on Monday advised travellers to Barbados to expect some delays in getting back their COVID-19 results from the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.
Acting Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr Kenneth George said that this was partially due to an increase in visitors.
He said although this was regrettable, the Ministry of Health will make available all technical and support resources to ensure that the services are uninterrupted, and will be carried out in a timely manner.
Dr George noted that the laboratory was processing over 1,000 tests daily, and officials were working to ensure accurate results were returned.
