Valentine s Day is looking different this year. Restaurants and bars, normally packed to the rafters with couples, are unable to offer dinner service on February 14 due to current lockdown restrictions.
In order to bolster dwindling sales on what is, in normal times, one of the busiest days in the hospitality calendar, many restaurants have adapted by creating special meal kits, offering customers the chance to sample luxurious ingredients such as steak, top Italian wine and handmade chocolates from the comfort of home.
ALDI has stepped up its Easter game with its widest selection of Hot Cross Buns yet. This year there will be 10 varieties including everything from super decadent like salted caramel and Belgian chocolate to wild cards like chilli and cheese. Prices range from 59p to £1.09 for a pack of four while the luxury Specially Selected range includes the Fruited Hot Cross Bun which won the Hot Cross Bun category at this year’s Good Housekeeping’s Easter Taste Test. For those with more of a sweet tooth, there are raspberry and Belgian white chocolate or honeycomb hot cross buns. Or for something a bit different there are rhubard and custard hot cross buns (yes, you read that right) and brioche hot cross buns with enriched buttery flavours.
