House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said Tuesday that Republican lawmakers have shared concerns with him over Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney’s ability “to carry out the message,” fueling speculation that the no. 3 House Republican may once again face an effort to oust her from party leadership.
“There’s no concern about how she voted on impeachment that decision has been made,” the California Republican told
Fox and Friends.
“I have heard from members concerned about her ability to carry out the job as conference chair, to carry out the message. We all need to be working as one if we’re able to win the majority.”

As a cohort of House Republicans angle to oust Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) as conference chair, the names reportedly floated to replace the House GOP leadership’s most ardent critic of former President Donald Trump appear to primarily be women who have defended him.
Congressional aides told Axios that among their considerations are Reps. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Ann Wagner (R-MO) and Jackie Walorski (R-IN).
None of the women discussed as potential replacements voted to impeach Trump in February or during his first impeachment in 2019. On Jan. 6, Stefanik and Walorski had also objected to the Electoral College certification of the presidential election.

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), who is the chair of the House Republican Conference and the third-highest ranking Republican in the U.S. House, has found herself in the news quite a bit lately. Matt reported last week that she said she thinks she may even run for president in 2024, after being particularly vocal in impeaching Trump the second time around, while she continues to trash him to this day. Well, Republican leaders have had enough of her, and may even be willing to push her out, according to Axios.
On Saturday, Jonathan Swan, Glen Johnson and Alayna Treene reported, Scoop: GOP leaders threaten Cheney ouster. Honestly, it sounds like House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), the highest and second-highest ranking Republicans in the House, respectively, have been fed up with her for some time.
