NEW DELHI, Feb 27: ‘Hunar Haat’, the Minority Affairs Ministry’s flagship initiative to encourage master artisans, is playing a “phenomenal” role in making “Vocal for Local” campaign a mass movement, Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said on Saturday.
Addressing media persons at the ‘Hunar Haat’ being held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here, the Minority Affairs Minister said more than 12 lakh people have visited the ‘Hunar Haat’ which opened on February 20.
The number of visitors is likely to go over 16 lakh in the next two days. The ‘Hunar Haat’ will be concluding on March 1, 2021.
The 10-day ‘Hunar Haat’ was inaugurated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

Local firms should be given preference in consultancy sector: Vinay Sahasrabuddhe
New Delhi, Feb 10 (UNI) BJP MP Vinay Sahasrabuddhe on Wednesday said that local firms should be given preference in consultancy sector in the country as the ‘Public policy’ has become a lucrative domain with several talented students opting for it.
Speaking during the ‘Zero Hour,’ he said that consultancy was a huge business in India, the turnover of which stood at Rs 27,000 crore in 2020 but the foreign-origin consulting agencies have been grabbing the business.
“The government should adopt a policy wherein Indian consulting firms are given priority as in most of the cases, the local firms lose out due to the existing norms such as minimum turnover which is always high for the local firms”, he said.

Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Thursday said that fake federations of fatwa work against the welfare of common people and they are enemies of humanity. They have opened up shops for fatwas and just like vegetable vendors go about selling vegetables on their thelas (carts), they are going about selling fatwas fatwa le lo, fatwa le lo . When the Covid-19 vaccine arrives, they will be the ones who will be the first to take it and then they will issue a fatwa and put the lives of others in danger, Mr Naqvi said while speaking to ANI.
