Even as the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government continues to grapple with the crisis triggered by the resignation of K.T. Jaleel from the Cabinet, the Syro-Malabar church has come up with a demand that the Minorities Welfare Department be handed over to the Chief Minister from the next government onward.
A statement, issued by the Public Relations-Jagratha Samithi of the Changanassery archdiocese, said the demand was being raised after holding a detailed review of the department’s operation under the two previous governments. It further called for steps to ensure transparent and indiscriminate operation of the department under the next government.

Former Minister & ex-Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has strongly condemned the decision of the TRS Government of converting regular employees of Mecca Masjid and Royal Mosque to outsourcing staff and demanded that the orders be withdrawn immediately.
The Minorities Welfare Department has issued a circular converting the regular jobs of as many as 30 employees of two historic mosques - Mecca Masjid and Royal Mosque, Public Gardens into outsourcing or contract with effect from March 31, 2021. This circular has created unrest among employees, their families and common Muslims, in general. This circular should be withdrawn immediately, he demanded in an open letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on Sunday.
Minorities Finance Corporation overwhelmed by applications
The Telangana State Minorities Finance Corporation (TSMFC), an agency of the Minorities Welfare Department, which deals with economic support schemes - on the one hand is beset with lower budgets and a large number of applications, and on the other, paucity of staff.

Makkah Masjid damaged; no action taken by government

Hyderabad: The Makkah Masjid is under attack yet again from encroachments.
This time, it is construction activity on the Panchmohalla area, towards the southern side of the historic mosque. A slab has been raised, which is precariously close to the smaller minarets, and have even mildly damaged the out wall.
According to sources, construction activity callously close to the wall along the Khilwat to Panchmohalla road is no new phenomenon. However, the most recent construction activity began approximately 20 days ago.
The Minorities Welfare Department, instead of taking a closer look, and putting a complete halt to encroachment activity, has busied itself with converting the nature of employment of staff to contractual, on a yearly basis.
