May 21, 2021 Mapletree Industrial Trust has agreed to acquire 29 data centres in the US from Sila Realty Trust for approximately $1.3 billion, the Singapore-listed trust said in a stock exchange filing. The deal, which covers a total land area of 8.4 million square feet, will be financed through a combination of debt and equity, with the final structure to be decided at a later stage, Mapletree said. The proposed acquisition is expected to make Mapletree Investment Trust one of the largest owners of data centres among REITs listed in the Asia-Pacific region. It also gives the REIT a presence in 13 out of the top 15 data centre markets in North America.

Involta buys SecureData 365 s data center in Canton Involta, LLC Involta LLC, an IT, cloud computing and data center services company, announced it has acquired the Canton assets of data center operator SecureData 365. In a news release issued Thursday, May 6, Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based Involta said the deal adds a new data center and a highly skilled team to its national portfolio. SecureData 365 s Canton data center is about 30,000 square feet. An Involta spokeswoman wrote in an email that the company is not disclosing terms of the deal. She added that 13 Canton employees from SecureData 365 will join Involta as a result of the deal. The acquisition does not include SecureData 365 s Cleveland operations, the spokeswoman confirmed. She did not provide employee or revenue figures for Involta.
