Vissim and StormGeo are to provide weather forecasting and vessel management services to the 1075MW Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm in Scotland.
The wind farm is a joint venture between SSE Renewables and Total and is currently under construction in the Scottish North Sea with expected completion date of early 2023.
SSE Renewables is leading the development and construction of the joint venture project, supported by Total, and will operate Seagreen upon completion.
In the collaboration between StormGeo and Vissim, live, on-site measurement data from Vissim’s wave devices is sent to StormGeo, which then creates live weather forecasts for Vissim’s vessel management system.

In an eventful week in which its Port of Nigg was selected as a turbine foundation marshaling port for the giant Seagreen offshore wind farm, UK-based Global Energy Group said Thursday it had struck a deal to power its Port of Nigg facilities using green hydrogen, to significantly reduce emissions at the site.
The company has teamed up with ScottishPower to identify processes and plant at the facility on Cromarty Firth that could be powered by green hydrogen.
Green hydrogen will be generated at the Nigg site and used to power heavy plant, machinery, and vehicles used in the daily operations at the site and to power high temperature, energy-intensive processes like the manufacturing of offshore wind components.
