RAWALPINDI: Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed Tuesday said the enemy countries, India and Israel, were in hybrid warfare against Pakistan, but their nefarious designs were destined to fail.
“The enemies were hatching conspiracies to create misunderstandings between Pakistan and China and create unrest in the region,” he said while addressing a press conference.
He said, “It would have been better had the Afghan ambassador not gone back. We want his daughter to be part of the investigations.
“No matter she wants to fight her case or not, the Pakistani agencies will fully investigate the case,” he added.
He said the investigation into the Afghan ambassador’s daughter’s issue had been completed to a large extent. They knew about the places visited by her and the vehicles she had used for travelling. The drivers of all taxis were ordinary person, who had no previous record of having involved in any criminal activity.

LAHORE: China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects have been instrumental in shifting Pakistan s focus from geopolitics to geoeconomics by boosting connectivity, commerce, trade, and cooperation in the region.
This was the focus of discussion at a conference organised by the Centre for Chinese Legal Studies (CCLS) at the Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law (SAHSOL), LUMS. The virtual conference ‘CPEC: Pakistan-China Security and Strategic Cooperation’ was attended by Senate Defence Committee Chairman Mushahid Hussain, SAHSOL Head of Department Prof Uzair J Kayani, and CCLS Director Prof Sikander A Shah. Members of the Pakistan-China Institute and the LUMS community also attended the event.

Indian commentators are acknowledging that keeping a distance from the Afghan Taliban was a mistake. Now that India has closed down its consulates in Kandahar, Jalalabad and Herat, they are realizing that there are no permanent friends or enemies – only national interests matter.
The second lesson for India and everyone else is to avoid undermining one s adversaries if a temporary gain at the diplomatic level has been achieved, such as the one gained by India in Afghanistan after 9/11.
Significantly, three thousand Indians have been withdrawn from Afghanistan, which is the highest number India has had anywhere associated with its diplomatic missions abroad. However, some personnel were involved in developmental projects in the country.

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi reached China on Friday for participating in the third China-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue.
“On the invitation of the State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi will visit China from 23-24 July 2021,” the FO said while announcing the minister’s two-day visit to Beijing.
Mr Qureshi is being accompanied on the trip by Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood and other senior officials.
ISI Director General Lt Gen Faiz Hamid is also in China for the meeting.

ISLAMABAD: Amid intensified efforts by Pakistan to get the work restarted on the Dasu hydropower project, Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) Chairman retired Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain called on Chinese Ambassador Nong Rong here on Friday and discussed the matters relating to construction of the dam.
“The matters relating to construction of Dasu hydropower project in the context of July 14 incident were discussed in detail,” said an official announcement released after the meeting held on the day Pakistan sent the bodies of nine engineers to China and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi arrived in Beijing on the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
