Pakistan harbouring terrorists is now backfiring as China keeps losing faith in the country s ability to protect its closest ally. The recent incident where nine Chinese engineers were killed triggered tensions between the two countries. Immediately after the incident, China suspended the work of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) at Dasu Dam in Pakistan s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and fired all the Pakistani personnel, terminating their contracts with the company implementing the project, which was later withdrawn.

Now, things have taken turn for the worse, at least for Pakistan. As the construction work of the Dasu hydropower station in Pakistan continues, photos of Chinese engineers reportedly working on the project carrying weapons have been shared online.
District police officer Asif Bahadur visited the site of the Jabori hydropower project and examined security arrangements.
He also met the Chinese engineers and workers and asked them about their security.
The DPO also said security checks around the site of the Suki Kinari hydropower project had also been increased by deploying extra force of the Frontier Constabulary.

He said workers and other employees were allowed to enter or leave the project site after body search and other security checks.
Meanwhile, the Chinese nationals working on the power project have got extra security following the recent Dasu bus blast, which left nine Chinese nations and four Pakistanis dead, an insider told Dawn.

After the mysterious attack on a bus near Dasu dam – in which nine Chinese nationals and three Pakistanis were killed and 28 others injured – work on the dam project was suspended pending improved security for Chinese engineers and workers. Both China and Pakistan have, however, vowed to continue cooperating closely to face such challenges together. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong have visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Rawalpindi and inquired after the well-being of the Chinese nationals injured in the Dasu incident. The support that China has provided to Pakistan in initiating and completing various projects across Pakistan is commendable and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has emerged as a flagship milestone.
