Pakistan: 15 Chinese officials join Dasu bus blast probe 18 Jul 2021, 06:18 GMT+10 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa [Pakistan], July 18 (ANI): A 15-member team of Chinese officials has joined the investigation led by Pakistan authorities into the bus explosion in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Pakistan Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said the team, which arrived here on Friday, visited the incident site with security agency officials.On Wednesday, a passenger bus exploded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa s Upper Kohistan district, killing 13 people, including nine Chinese engineers. The explosion took place when the bus was on its way to Dasu. Rashid said that the Chinese government had also been taken on board and was being informed about updates as they were received.

PIAF concerned over declining trend of foreign direct investment

Daily Times July 18, 2021 Chairman Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) Mian Nauman Kabir expressing serious concern over the declining trend in foreign direct investment has said that FDI remained negative and posted a decline of 29 percent during the last fiscal year (FY21) despite some positive developments on the economic front. Quoting the State Bank of Pakistan, he said that foreign investors invested $1.85 billion in Pakistan on account of FDI during FY21 compared to $2.50 billion in same period of FY20, down by $750 million. During the period under review, the country fetched FDI inflows amounted to $3 billion against the outflow of $1.16 million. A massive fall in the FDI has been attributed mainly to a major fall in the Chinese investment in CPEC projects, as net FDI from China was down by over 10 per cent to $758 million in FY21 compared to $847 million FDI in FY20.

PEC says can help produce electricity at Rs3 per unit July 18, 2021 MULTAN: Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has offered the government a helping hand to produce cheapest electricity within the present infrastructure and resources with a roadmap to enhance the production of energy in the country. Speaking at the PEC August 8 election campaign rally organized by the Wapda NTDC Employees Association here, PEC chairman Javed Saleem Qureshi said if the government joins PEC in its policies, even today they can provide electricity @Rs 3 per unit. He said PEC engineers have made a ventilator to counter Corona at a cost of $ 4,000 which was earlier prepared @$70,000. The government can save billions of rupees by including PEC engineers in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, he said. He said the PEC leadership has provided jobs to 18,000 engineers and today the largest building in Islamabad is ready for the facilities of engineers.
