LAHORE: The history of attacks, subversive activities and accidents involving Chinese engineers and workers, associated with projects in Pakistan, dates back to May 3, 2004, when a car bomb in Gwadar had killed three engineers from the brotherly country.
Research shows that remote-control detonation occurred when the Chinese engineers were being transported to work on a project developing port facilities in Gwadar. According to “BBC News,” this was the first major attack on foreign workers, since a suicide bomber had killed 11 French engineers in Karachi in 2002. Some 17 years ago, more than 400 Chinese engineers and construction workers were working on this project, then valued at $250million.

(Bloomberg) China expressed shock over a bus explosion in Pakistan that killed 12 people including nine Chinese citizens, and called on the South Asian country to protect projects valued at tens of billions of dollars.
Chinese Foreign Wang Yi asked Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi to quickly investigate the cause of the blast Wednesday on a bus carrying workers in the northern Kohistan region, according to a statement from China. Qureshi said an initial probe indicated the explosion was an accident, not a terrorist attack, and pledged to share any outcome with China.
Indonesian envoy briefs students on scholarships

LAHORE : Indonesian Ambassador in Pakistan Adam Mulawarman Tugio on Wednesday visited Government College University Lahore and briefed the students about different scholarships available in Indonesia for Pakistani students. GCU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi and senior faculty members welcomed the development for the benefit of the students and faculty of GCU.
Adam Mulawarman Tugio said different Indonesian universities had been considered among the 200 best universities of the world. “Pakistan and Indonesia are brotherly Islamic countries and there are vast opportunities for cooperation between the two in various fields,” he added.
He pledged to act as a bridge between GCU and different reputed universities of Indonesia for academic and research collaboration.

In a tragic incident, a bus carrying construction workers in Pakistan was was bombed. At least 12 people, including nine Chinese citizens, were killed in the accident, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said.
As per the police, the bus was carrying around 40 Chinese engineers, surveyors and mechanical staff to a hydropower dam construction site in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The cause of the explosion was not immediately known, but the Pakistani foreign ministry said it was due to mechanical failure , while a Chinese foreign ministry referred to it as an attack . However, the officials said that the cause of the explosion is still being investigated.
