LAHORE: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has said that pushing the PML-N against the wall will not help serve the people.
“Pushing the PML-N against the wall will not be a service to the nation. Political victimisation of the opposition will neither help solve the national crises created by the PTI government nor will it serve the nation,” the PML-N president told a presser here on Monday.
“Several party leaders and I were sent to jail for our ‘crime’ of ending loadshedding, providing cheap transport, health cards, educational scholarships and free medicines to the public and launching other public-welfare projects,” he deplored.
Pakistan-China’s Diplomatic Partnership Beyond 70
July 13, 2021
May 21, 1951, is the day when Pakistan and China joined hands for diplomatic and development collaboration. Pakistan was about four years old while China was just less than two. Then, China was satirically termed by the West as an “opium country” with a huge idle population. Meanwhile, Pakistan had no resources for its people’s welfare programmes or to run its economic affairs. Both countries were going through almost the same miseries. However, Pakistan managed its economic development a little better than China in the 1960s. Sadly, the two wars – 1965 and 1971–, the dictatorial regimes and the unending corruption and malpractices led us to where we are now.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China have so far remained unable to narrow down their differences over estimated cost of much-awaited construction of Mainline-1 (ML-1) rail line from Karachi to Peshawar, however, this multibillion-dollar project will be part of agenda of upcoming Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting.
The JCC, under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), is scheduled to hold a virtual meeting on July 16, 2021 and financing of ML-1 will be part of the agenda of the meeting.
Pakistan’s approving forums, including Central Development Working Party (CDWP) and Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC), had granted approval of ML-1 at estimated cost of $7.2 billion, however, the Chinese side had worked out its cost hovering over $9.2 to $9.5 billion, indicating that there was a gap of over $2 billion in the estimation cost of this seven to eight years project.
