Beijing [China], July 7 (ANI): China appears to be preparing to ramp up its involvement in Afghanistan amid US troops withdrawal with Beijing eyeing the war-torn nation for investment and influence opportunities.
According to The New York Post, in recent weeks, Beijing has been vocal in slamming the United States for pushing forward with its troop withdrawal, citing the deteriorating situation on the ground. Still, it had not made any public commitments regarding a response.
US President Joe Biden has set a deadline of September 11 for the final pullout of the few remaining troops from Afghanistan.
PM says officials must cut protocols

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has urged his government ministers, governors, chief ministers and other high-ups to avoid protocol and unnecessary security to “minimise expenditure and end the public inconvenience”.
In his tweets, he announced on Tuesday that he would not be going to any private functions with protocol and security to save taxpayers’ money and avoid the public inconvenience.
“I am also reviewing protocol and security for ministers, governors and PTI CMs to decide how we can minimise expenditure and end public inconvenience,” the PM said.
He said that the next week, the cabinet would decide on a comprehensive policy in this regard. “We will put an end to the colonial legacy of pomp and glory, used to overwhelm the people,” he added.

July 7, 2021
ISLAMABAD: Refugee camps would be set up along the Afghan border region, but divided families would be a challenge, said Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday, as he feared if the situation worsened in Afghanistan, Pakistan would have to accommodate a huge number of refugees.
Replying to questions during a media briefing following a cabinet meeting, he said over 90 per cent of the 2,700km border with Afghanistan had already been fenced and efforts were under way to start a proper mechanism for entry and exit at border crossings.
