China is eyeing up investments and intervention in Afghanistan as the final American troops leave the country after a frustrating 20-year war.

As United States forces redraw their final troops from Afghanistan after 20 frustrating years, communist superpower China is making inroads into the troubled nation.
Like China’s western Xinjiang province, neighbouring Afghanistan is a strategically vital fork in the communist superpower’s Belt and Road Initiative (BLI).
Sitting on the arterial China-Pakistan Economic Corridor of cables, pipelines, roads, and railways, the Afghan capital, Kabul, has become the latest target of Chinese investment.

Foreign combat operations ended in Afghanistan years ago. For the past few years, barely 10,000 NATO forces have been helping enable a force of some 400,000 Afghans with the necessary equipment and capability to build the state.
Those support operations ended with the withdrawal this week. Since the abrupt departure of Western soldiers, Afghan forces have found themselves cut off, exposed and massacred. Others have fled allowing the Taliban to take territory across Afghanistan.
