ISLAMABAD: Putting up a fierce defence to the estimated GDP growth rate, Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar on Tuesday said that the growth rate of 3.94 percent predicted by the National Accounts Committee (NAC) for the outgoing fiscal year was based on real figures and data.
The figure was not fudged and should not be made controversial as it was calculated on the month-wise data of various macro-economic indicators, including foreign remittances, exports, Large Scale Manufacturing (LSM), agriculture, and services sectors compiled by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) and State Bank of Pakistan for the last 10 months, he added.
Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday reaffirmed the highest priority accorded by the government to China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the firm commitment to expeditiously complete its projects, which would open up tremendous opportunities for increased economic growth and development in the region and beyond

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Chairman CPEC Authority Lt. Gen. Asim Saleem Bajwa on Tuesday said China would bring more investment in the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
He said investment of around US $13 billion had already been made in various sectors under the mega project while an additional investment of US $ 12 billion was in the pipeline.
He made these remarks while addressing media here after visiting a textile mill established by a Chinese company “Challenge Group”.
