Envoys from EU and 6 western countries visit Gwadar Port--China Economic Net

  GWADAR, May 25 (Gwadar Pro) - A delegation of diplomatic envoys from the European Union and six western countries visited Gwadar Port and Gwadar Free Zone and planted trees at Pak-China Friendship Green Park on May 24.   The delegation included Ambassador of the European Union to Pakistan H.E. Ms. Adroulla Kaminara, Ambassador of Denmark H.E. Ms. Lis Rosenholm, Ambassador of Germany H.E. Mr. Bernhard Stephan, Ambassador of Belgium H.E. Mr. Phiippe Bronchain, Canadian High Commissioner H.E. Ms. Wendy Gilmour, Ambassador of Austria H.E. Mr. Nicatan Keller and a representative of the Netherlands Embassy.   At the welcoming ceremony, Zhang Baozhong, the chairman of China Overseas Ports Holding Company (COPHC) - the firm that operates Gwadar Port, expressed his gratitude for their attendance and shared investment and development opportunities in Gwadar Free Zone. 

CPEC to be corruption free: Punjab CM s aide--China Economic Net

  RAWALPINDI, May 25 (Gwadar Pro)―No one will be allowed to engage in corruption in the multi-billion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, a senior government official said on Monday afternoon.   Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Special Assistant to the Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Information, said that high-level investigation is being carried out to probe the alleged corruption in the CPEC’s Rawalpindi-Islamabad Ring Road project.   “The investigation is on. If anyone is involved (in corruption), he will be punished. CPEC will be corruption free, she said at a news conference here.   The Anti-Corruption has already launched an investigation into the Rawalpindi Ring Road scandal. Director General of Anti-Corruption Punjab, Muhammad Gohar has formed an investigation team comprising legal, technical and economic experts.

CPEC: Timely completion of Gwadar Expressway ordered--China Economic Net

  ISLAMABAD, May 25 (Gwadar Pro)―Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Omar Ayub Khan on Monday afternoon ordered timely completion of the Gwadar Expressway under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).   The minister chaired a meeting of the National Coordination Committee on foreign-funded projects, said an official statement.   The Construction of Eastbay Expressway is the main artery of Gwadar Port, through which the total traffic of port will flow.   The objective of Eastbay Expressway is to provide primary connectivity between the Port and its Free Zone with the network of National Highways.   Linking Gwadar Port with the main artery of the national highway network and smooth logistic transportation of import, export and transit goods, currently, Gwadar Deep-Sea Port is connected through a narrow 16 feet wide thoroughfare of Gwadar town at the West-Bay.

The prime minister was accompanied by key members of his cabinet, including Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, and Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed. On the military side, all services chiefs were present Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen Nadeem Raza, Chief of the Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar.

Madina-like welfare state to be set up in phases: PM - Pakistan

DawnNewsTV/File ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday said that a welfare state on the pattern of the state of Madina would be established in phases and there was a need to ensure social justice in accordance with the principles of Islam. The premier sought the recommendations from the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) regarding establishment of an Islamic welfare state in Pakistan and assured it that the recommendations would be implemented. He was discussing the matter with a delegation led by CII Chairman Dr Qibla Ayaz. The delegation included Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi, special representative of the prime minister on religious harmony, and a member of the CII.
