KUNMING, May 21 (Xinhua) At least one person was killed and eight others injured as of 11:50 p.m. on Friday after a series of earthquakes jolted Yangbi Yi Autonomous County in southwest China s Yunnan Province, local authorities said.
One person was killed by falling rocks, said Zhang Shiwei, Party chief of Yangbi. Three people were injured by falling tiles, and four were buried in a road collapse, among whom three have been rescued.
Four earthquakes over 5.0-magnitude jolted Yangbi from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

BEIJING, May 22 (Xinhua) At lease two people were killed and 10 were injured after several earthquakes rattled Yangbi Yi Autonomous County in southwest China s Yunnan Province, the Ministry of Emergency Management said early Saturday.
Rescue teams have been dispatched to the epicenter and seven trapped local residents have been rescued, the ministry reported.
Four earthquakes over 5.0-magnitude jolted the county from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. (Beijing Time) Friday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center. A 6.4-magnitude earthquake was reported at 9:48 p.m., with the epicenter being monitored at 25.67 degrees north latitude and 99.87 degrees east longitude, at a depth of 8 km, the center said. Enditem

An earthquake of magnitude 7 struck Qinghai, China, early on Saturday, the GFZ German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) said.
The quake was at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles) , GFZ said.
A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck the southwestern Chinese province of Yunnan late Friday, killing at least one person, local officials and seismologists said.
The US Geological Survey said the epicentre of the quake - which hit at 9.48 pm (1348 GMT) at a relatively shallow depth of 10 kilometres - was near the city of Dali, a popular tourist destination.
The initial magnitude of 6.0 was revised upwards.
At least one person was confirmed dead after the quake in the mountainous province, a truck driver who had been crushed by a falling rock, provincial officials said in a statement, adding that three more people had been buried under rubble.
