Google Cloud announced this week that its Healthcare Consent Management API, aimed at giving users a simple way to manage individuals consent over health data use, is now generally available.
The API was made available via Public Preview last fall. According to the tech giant, early adopters have used it to create personalized patient portals, securely integrate data into clinical workflows and develop virtual clinical trials. We’re pleased to add the Healthcare Consent Management API to our portfolio of solutions, and to support healthcare and life sciences professionals as healthcare data begins to span a variety of devices, scenarios, and locations, wrote Google Cloud Healthcare and Life Sciences Product Manager Jameson Rogers in a blog post.

In December, Highmark Health announced a six-year collaboration with Google Cloud that the companies said would lay down the infrastructure of the integrated delivery network s data-driven Living Health Dynamic Platform.
Today, the organizations unveiled plans to get Verily and its Onduo chronic care subsidiary in on the action as well. Through another six-year partnership, the partners will work together to develop and build clinical validation for digital health tools focused on patient engagement. Those that are up to snuff will be integrated by Alphabet companies into Highmark s Living Health model for broader deployment.
Built on the Google Cloud-powered platform, these new tools will incorporate real-time monitoring and predictive analytics informed by machine learning, the partners said.
Google to open first Minnesota office to advance Mayo Clinic cloud partnership

Google LLC today announced plans to open an office in Rochester, Minnesota, that will support the search giant’s technology partnership with Mayo Clinic.
The move underscores the growing focus Google is placing on healthcare as part of its cloud strategy.
The new hub will be located inside Collider Coworking, a coworking space directly adjacent to Mayo Clinic’s Rochester campus. Google said it intends to officially open the office later this year once it’s deemed safe to do so and in line with COVID-19 guidelines. But in a press call, software engineering manager Chris Mueller, who’s the local Google lead for the site, declined to specify how many people would work there.
