Eidul Azha celebrated in KP with religious fervour July 24, 2021 PESHAWAR: Eidul Azha was celebrated across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with religious fervour.In the provincial capital, the main congregation was held at the Eidgah in Faqirabad on the Charsadda Road. The congregations were also held in other mosques such as Mahabar Khan, Gunj Ali Khan, Dilawar Khan , Qasim Ali Khan, Sunehri Masjid and open places. The people turned up at the congregations while donning facemasks because of the fourth wave of coronavirus which is spiking in various parts of the country. Foolproof security was put in place and cops were deployed near mosques and Eidgahs and other parts.

WSSP disposes of 10,640 tonnes waste July 24, 2021 PESHAWAR: Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) disposed of 10640 tonnes of offal during the three-day Eidul Azha sanitation operation. The operation, inaugurated by Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information and Higher Education Kamran Bangash on Wednesday, concluded with appreciation from people from all walks of life. With 2,602 sanitary workers on duty, the company started the operation on the first day of Eid at 10am that continued till 5pm Friday. The company had set up 427 primary collection points and 16 transfer stations throughout the city. Elected members of the national and KP assemblies including MNA Arbab Sher Ali, Kamran Bangash, Additional Deputy Commissioner Gul Bano, WSSP Chief Executive Dr Hassan Nasir and General Manager (Operations) Riaz Ahmad Khan monitored the operation.

Depleting groundwater level triggers concern in KP July 21, 2021 PESHAWAR: The residents of a sector in Hayatabad faced acute shortage of water when a tube-well stopped working a few days back, prompting them to run from pillar to post to fetch some water for drinking and other purposes. The Peshawar Development Authority (PDA), which is responsible for providing basic amenities to the residents of the township, had to make hectic efforts to ensure timely repair of the tube-well. However, it took four long days to get it repaired. Meanwhile, the PDA struggled to provide potable water to the dwellers of the area. The authority had to press water tanks into service to cater to the needs of the people.

WSSP finalises sanitation plan for Eid ul Azha July 19, 2021 PESHAWAR: Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) has finalised a three-day Eidul Azha sanitation operation plan for 43 urban union councils of the provincial capital. The plan was finalised at a meeting with Chief Executive Officer Dr Hassan Nasir in the chair. As per the plan, 2602 sanitary workers would be on duty on the first day of Eidul Azha. A communique said the company would collect offal through 566 vehicles, including 310 of WSSP and 253 private vehicles. “It would be the biggest sanitation operation of the year in which 10500 tonnes of waste is expected to be produced within 3 days of Eid,” it added.

The plan was finalised during a meeting with Chief Executive Officer Dr Hassan Nasir in the chair. As per the plan, 2,602 sanitary workers would be on duty on the first day of Eid. The company will collect offal through 566 vehicles of which 310 are WSSP’s own while 253 are private vehicles hired for the biggest sanitation operation of the year. Some 10,500 tons of waste is expected to be produced within 3 days of Eid.
