WSSP says 155 4 km drains cleared ahead of monsoon rains

July 29, 2021 PESHAWAR: Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) has cleaned 155.4 kilometre drains ahead of the monsoon rains during a special campaign. The campaign was launched in May during which 75.74-kilometer drains were cleaned while 69.4 in the month of June. Besides, 616.29 km primary and secondary drains were cleared during the last six months, said WSSP spokesperson, Hassan Ali. The official said that WSSP cleared 60 to 70 km drains every month on average. He added that encroachments on drains impeded rainwater flow due to which WSSP always keeps its staff on high alert to prevent inundation of various areas. He added that teams had already been constituted and assigned spots where inundation was feared to happen as a result of rains.

WSSP disposes of 10,640 ton waste July 24, 2021 PESHAWAR: Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) disposed of 10640 ton of offal during the three-day Eidul Azha sanitation operation. The operation, inaugurated by Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information and Higher Education Kamran Bangash on Wednesday, concluded with appreciation from people from all walks of life. With 2,602 sanitary workers on duty, the company started the operation on the first day of Eid at 10am that continued till 5pm Friday. The company had set up 427 primary collection points and 16 transfer stations throughout the city. Elected members of the national and KP assemblies including MNA Arbab Sher Ali, Kamran Bangash, Additional Deputy Commissioner Gul Bano, WSSP Chief Executive Dr Hassan Nasir and General Manager (Operations) Riaz Ahmad Khan monitored the operation.
