Ontario students are again experiencing intermittent internet access during the first week of online learning in the province in 2021.
The provincewide issue, mostly affecting Cogeco subscribers, is the second of its kind this week.

A tweet from @Cogecohelps, the company’s customer care account, stated, “We are aware of the outage affecting several customers. We are working hard to get this resolved as quickly as possible.”
Plenty of local families will have to adjust their plans following the extension of teacher-led online learning.
The province has announced students won’t return to the classroom until at least January 25th in Southern Ontario, and that includes those in the Limestone District School Board and Algonquin & Lakeshore Catholic District School Board.

The numbers are going down locally with eight new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, and total active cases down to 72.
The new cases include a female in her 30s, from close contact; a male in his 20s, with the source under investigation; a male in his 30s, under investigation; a male in his 30s, from an outbreak-related case; a male in his 30s, under investigation; a male in his 20s, case due to close contact; a male in his 20s, close contact; and a female in her 20s, under investigation.

Both local school boards have re-elected their chair of the board for the 2021 term.
At the Dec. 9 Limestone District School Board meeting, trustees re-elected trustee Suzanne Ruttan as chair for the 2021 term and elected first-time trustee Tom Gingrich as vice-chair.

Both Ruttan and trustee Garrett Elliott were nominated for the role of chair of the board. Trustees Gingrich and Robin Hutcheon were nominated for the vice-chair position. The votes for the positions were by secret ballot, and the trustees elect a chair and vice-chair each year of their four-year mandate.
