(LCSO) HOUSTON – Deputies are searching for a man accused of kidnapping a woman at gunpoint Tuesday night in north Liberty County, according to the sheriff’s office. The kidnapping was reported in Plum Grove on County Road 3404. Deputies said the victim, Erika Rios Valdez, 32, was outside around 9:30 p.m. unhooking a food service trailer from her vehicle when an acquaintance drove up in his truck, pointed a gun at the victim and forced her into his truck.

Witnesses told investigators that Valdez was in the process of parking and unhooking a food service trailer when Fajardo drove up and forced her into his vehicle at gunpoint.

The Mayor and Council will convene on the steps of City Hall on Thursday Dec. 31st at 5 p.m. for a swearing-in Ceremony. The Mayor will swear in the Interim Police Chief Alfonza Hagan. Hagan is retired from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and was previously a chief investigator for the Bryan County Sheriff s Office, and a patrolman with the Pembroke Police Department. He is owner of Central Georgia Polygraph. He was a candidate in the 2020 elections for the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office which was won by Mark Crowe.

Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Tis the Christmas season of giving and receiving and for the fourth year in a row the Liberty High School Senior Advanced Law Enforcement and Correctional Officer class has stepped up to the Christmas tree and played “Santa” by showering the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office personnel with a delightfully delicious delicacy of cookies, cakes and candies to brighten this holiday season. Approximately twelve of the nearly twenty member class and their very able Instructor Terry Higginbotham arrived with “goodies” in boxes which were distributed throughout the agency to satisfy the sweet tooth of everyone.
