It was hard to blame those schools. Here was Strachan, an interesting recruit good size, good speed but one with many questions. Among them: How quickly could this native of The Bahamas with limited experience in the game develop? And would he manage to qualify academically given the challenges with meeting core-class requirements and the minimum SAT score after changing countries in the middle of high school?

Like you, I was exhausted by the Chick-Fil-A wars of 2012, when the president of the fast food company made some particularly homophobic remarks and it came to light that the company donates money to various homophobic causes, after which it became politically mandatory for conservatives to pretend that to eat a chicken sandwich is to take a moral stand.
I’m sure you remember the discourse and how extremely stupid it was. Carrying a Chick-Fil-A bag became a declaration, a badge to let everyone know that you have disdain for queers. Obviously, nobody really gave a shit about the food itself; it was just one of those dumb conservative performances like eating beans or pretending to care about the sanctity of women’s sports.

In true Indianapolis Colts fashion, they used the 2021 NFL Draft as an opportunity to select a large, highly athletic prospect from a small school to try and unearth as a gem.
In the seventh round with the 229th-overall pick, the Colts drafted Charleston wide receiver Mike Strachan.
At 6 5 , 226 with an 85-inch wingspan and 10-inch hands, Strachan truly has special size for the receiver position. On top of that, he ran a 4.52 40-yard dash, a 6.96-second three-cone, posted a 35-inch vertical leap and 10 7 broad, and put up 20 reps on the bench press.
Without being a widely-known prospect, reporters learned quite a bit about Strachan after speaking with him following his selection on Saturday.

The 2019 NFL Draft featured a small school pass rusher by the name of John Cominsky. Cominsky saw his draft stock skyrocket thanks to a big performance at the Senior Bowl.
Today, I’d like to introduce you to Mike Strachan, a wide receiver that played alongside Cominsky at Charleston.
Cominsky was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the third round despite being a D-II prospect. He helped put Charleston on the NFL draft map. Cominsky wasn’t just drafted, he’s proven that he belongs at this level and remains with the Falcons today.
