Liberty Township: Trustees inch toward replacing Liberty Road fire station
Jim Fischer
Liberty Township trustees took the first step toward a possible new fire station during the board’s July 7 meeting.
Trustees voted 2-1 to spend up to $300,000 for an architect to prepare design drawings for a new station that, if approved, would replace the original station – Station 321 – at 7761 Liberty Road.
Station 322, built in 2004, is at 10150 Sawmill Parkway.
Trustee Bryan Newell and fire Chief Tom O’Brien presented a preliminary report that they said supported new construction over renovation of Station 321. O’Brien told trustees a “huge list of things” would need to be done just to make the current station functional.
