The California Energy Commission has awarded North County Transit District a $4 million grant to build a hydrogen fueling station at the district’s Breeze bus maintenance facility in the Oceanside Industrial Park, transit officials announced Monday.
“NCTD remains committed to being on the forefront of zero-emissions technology, providing clean transportation choices for our customers, and improving the air quality in our communities,” said Tony Kranz, the district’s board chairman and an Encinitas City Council member.
“This new technology and infrastructure will improve overall Breeze operations by decreasing the time needed to refuel, expanding the service range, and increasing the fuel economy of our fleet,” Kranz said in a district news release.

Eligible counties include Butte, El Dorado, Imperial, Kings, Merced, Napa, Nevada, Placer, Solano, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tulare and Yolo.
The effort is one of 10 regional initiatives established under California Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Project (CALeVIP) which provides incentive funds for new charging stations at local businesses, shopping centers, gas stations, public facilities, multifamily housing and other community locations throughout the state.

WASHINGTON (May 7, 2021) Today, a state administrative law judge in Minnesota ruled that the state can proceed with new clean car standards. The new rules, proposed in 2019 by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Pollution Control Agency Commissioner Laura Bishop, would set emissions standards for all new passenger cars and trucks sold in the state and require auto manufacturers to sell more electric vehicles to consumers in Minnesota. When this rule is finalized, Minnesota will join 14 other states and the District of Columbia that have adopted strong clean car standards. This is a critical step for the state’s efforts to reduce the emissions that cause climate change, according to the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS).
