Four hundred college-bound scholars from Richmond will be honored at the virtual Richmond Promise Scholars Celebration on May 26 at 5 p.m., the organization announced. The event will include a lineup of guest speakers yet to be announced.
This 2021 class of scholars is poised to join a burgeoning number of more than 1,300 current scholars from Richmond who are attending 100 colleges and universities nationwide as part of the seven-year-old Richmond Promise.
The community-wide college success initiative aims to build a college graduating culture in Richmond. The organization’s mission is realized, in part, through its Richmond Promise Scholarship a $1,500 college scholarship that’s renewable for up to four years and available to all college-bound high school seniors who live in Richmond and North Richmond. It also provides a continuum of support to scholars surrounding the areas of financial aid, academics and college acclimation.
