The energy sector is changing for the better and oil and gas giants need to be part of that journey.
That was the suggestion from the outgoing CEO of the Energy Institute, Louise Kingham, who has recently announced she will leave the organisation for a new role at BP after she stands down from her current role in April.

The Energy Institute has announced Dr Nick Wayth CEng MIMechE FEI as its new CEO, following the departure of current CEO Louise Kingham OBE FEI.
Steve Holliday, President of the global professional body, made the announcement today – Mr Wayth, formerly Chief Development Officer of Alternative Energy at BP, will take up the new post on 4th May.
Steve Holliday said: “I am delighted to welcome Nick Wayth, someone whose career journey, from its roots in oil and gas through to playing a leading role in BP’s pivot towards solar, wind, hydrogen and storage, reflects the vital transition underway in the sector we serve.

Almost 3.2m smart and advanced meters installed in 2020
As of 31st December 2020, there were 23.6 million smart and advanced meters in Britain, according to BEIS figures
Energy suppliers installed a total of 3.2 million smart and advanced meters last year.
That’s according to the official BEIS report, which suggests at the end of 2020, there were 23.6 million smart and advanced meters in Britain in homes and small businesses.
Of these, 19.1 million were smart meters operating in smart mode and advanced meters – that means that 34% of all meters were smart in smart mode or advanced meters.
The analysis shows of the 23.6 million smart and advanced meters, 15.7 million are SMETS1, 6.7 million SMETS2 and 1.3 million advanced.
