Modack says he was unsure why the investigators working on the murder case of slain cop Charl Kinnear and Brian Wainstein would involve him, as he is not a suspect in the case. Modack, who was also investigated by Kinnear, says he was contacted last December shortly before the arrest of alleged Sexy Boys boss Jerome “Donkie” Booysen for the 2017 murder of Wainstein. He was told that if he paid the investigator R250 000, they would ensure Donkie lands in jail.

Wits Protest: IPID investigate man s death, DA and EFF condemn violence

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) will investigate the death of a man – believed to be an innocent bystander – during the Wits protests that have unfolded violently on Wednesday 10 March.  Protesters, led by the Wits University’s Student Representative Council (SRC), have clashed with police as the protests over student debt intensified, with members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) deploying teargas and firing rubber bullets in an effort to disperse crowds.  IPID to invesitgate death of man during Wits protest   IPID confirmed that they will dispatch investigators to the scene and try to condone off the area where the man was shot dead. 

IPID to investigate after bystander killed in Wits stud

. The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has sent investigators to Braamfontein, where a man was allegedly shot by the South African Police Service (SAPS) on Wednesday morning. The man (believed to be in his thirties) apparently got caught up in the protest by University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) students and was shot as he came out of the Myclinic Jorissen Medical Centre in Braamfontein. Dr Tebogo Sedibe, the doctor who treated the man at the clinic shortly before the fatal shooting, said the wounds were deep. “I was treating another patient in my room when I heard the gunshots. My assistant came to ask me to come and help outside because one of our patients got shot. I went out to see and performed CPR, compression-only,” Sesibe told
