A problem with traffic congestion which had arisen in Virginia is said to have led to the death of a motorcycle rider in Surry County Saturday afternoon.
The accident occurred about 12:45 p.m. on Interstate 74-West at the exit for N.C. 89-West, which is at Mile Marker 6 of the interstate.
The person killed was identified as Paul Lee Zink, 45, of Clemmons.
It involved an unusual scenario in which the lone motorcyclist from Forsyth County was riding westbound ahead of family members in a passenger vehicle traveling behind him as the wreck occurred, according to David Speight, interim Surry emergency services director
