(KYMA, KECY) - The Point of Entry Pilot project was launched by the Imperial County Division of Environmental Health and the Imperial Irrigation District. Jorge a. Perez, Environmental Health Services Manager, said it started with a study that Cal State San Marcos did through the National Latino Research Center. It made broad claims about the water quality in Imperial valley; regarding the not so good water quality. Perez says that the State Water Board questioned what actions were being taken to provide safe water to the rural residents of Imperial County who were not connected to a municipal water system .

Chautauqua County officials, working along side investigators from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, believe they ve identified the source of chemical contaminants that got into the village of Mayville s drinking water supply. Levels of perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA) were discovered in three of the village’s water wells at levels high enough to advise residents there not to drink it in early December. The advisory was lifted two weeks later when the village was able to bring a new well on-line to supply safe, contaminant-free drinking water to customers.

Breaking News | Breaking News Oyo arrests 40 persons, impounds 50 vehicles over breach of environmental sanitation law

Akinwale Aboluwade  At least 40 persons were arrested in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Saturday for breaching the environmental sanitation laws. Also impounded during the monthly sanitation exercise were 50 vehicles and 75 motorcycles. The taskforce, led by the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Dr. Abdulateef Oyeleke, included the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Bashir Olanrewaju; Chairman, Environmental Task Force, Francis Ojomo; Special Assistant to the Governor on Environment, Ademola Aderinto; Director, Environmental Health Services and the security operatives in the state. In an address at the Bodija Secretariat Road in Ibadan during the sanitation exercise, the Commissioner described the attitude of residents as worrisome, saying engaging in businesses during sanitation exercise is criminal.
