African Spurred Tortoise rescued
The Territorial Command of Castelo Branco, through the Environmental Protection Centre (NPA) of Castelo Branco, yesterday, on 18 May, rescued an African Spurred Tortoise, Centrochelys sulcata, in the municipality of Castelo Branco.
During their patrol, NPA were alerted to an animal that was on the side of the road, in the locality of Palvarinho. Following the action, the NPA moved to the site and rescued the animal, which appeared to be well fed and without injuries. After police due diligence, the owners were identified, and a report was drawn up for lack of CITES certificate and because the animal was not marked.

PAN (People-Animals-Nature party) is calling for explanations on the illegal planting of avocados in the municipality of Lagos, Algarve. For this reason PAN has submitted a request for an urgent hearing by the Minister of Environment and Climate Action, CCDR Algarve, ICNF, the Nature and Environment Protection Service (SEPNA) of GNR, IGAMAOT and the Portuguese Environment Agency.
