LOS ANGELES – San Luis Obispo prosecutors anticipate that dozens of women will testify about the predatory and at times violent sexual behavior of Paul Flores, a San Pedro man charged with the murder of a 19-year-old college student who vanished 25 years ago and has never been found, according to court papers made public Thursday.
In a 43-page document, Deputy District Attorney Christopher G. Peuvrelle laid out the most expansive account yet of the case his office has brought against Flores and his father, Ruben Flores, who are charged with murder and accessory to murder, respectively, in the disappearance and presumed death of Kristin Smart in 1996.

NewsChannel 3-12 obtained newly unsealed documents in the case against Paul and Ruben Flores. The documents show how prosecutors will try to prove Paul killed Kristin Smart when they were Cal Poly students in 1996, and how his father, Ruben, allegedly helped cover it up.
Prosecutors will try to prove that the remains of Kristin Smart were buried under the Arroyo Grande home of Ruben Flores under a deck in the back of the property.

A motion to include two charges of rape allegedly involving women in the Los Angeles area to the criminal complaint against Paul Flores, who is charged with the 1996 murder of Cal Poly student Kristin Smart, was denied by a judge Wednesday.
While the prosecution argued the additional charges should be included in the murder case against Flores, Judge Craig van Rooyen ruled that there would be a spillover effect with that case to the current one. Flores is charged with murdering Kristin Smart during the commission of a rape or attempted rape, but van Rooyen says there is little or no evidence to back the rape allegations.
Parkinson promised to make the Smart case a top priority upon first assuming office in 2011, according to Stan and Denise Smart.
“His interest and his unique ability to tell his story have been responsible for generating unimaginable new attention to Kristin,” according to the statement. “Thank you to everyone who have helped us with our quest for justice.”
Lambert on Tuesday wrote his own poignant post on the podcast’s Instagram page, @yourownbackyardpodcast:
“Kristin - I never knew you, but I have come as close as I can through the people who love you,” he wrote. “I know you would be impressed to see how strong your parents have remained, never giving up on you.”
