Hunterdon County s $92 million budget maintains flat property tax rate

Hunterdon County s $92 million budget maintains flat property tax rate MyCentralJersey.com FLEMINGTON - For the third conservative year, there will be no increase in Hunterdon County’s property tax rate. The county tax rate will remain at 31.5 cents per $100 of assessed property value. County taxes account for only a portion of property tax bills; school and local municipal taxes comprise most of the total bill. This year s $92.295 million budget comes in less than the nearly $100 million budget of 14 years ago.  “The budget shows the county is spending less than it did in the past, said Commissioner Matt Holt. The 2021 budget not only freezes the tax rate, it also remains substantially below the nearly $100 million budget from 2007, and is still even lower than the county budget from 2010, 11 years ago.

By RIKKI MASSAND Credits: Rikki Massand April 19, 2021 at 9:00 AM HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ - The Hunterdon County Board of County Commissioners formalized another open space and land preservation initiative, adding the 97-acre CRC Mine Road property in Bethlehem Township to Hunterdon County’s land inventory. This project was initiated by the nonprofit Hunterdon Land Trust, in Flemington. In 2019, Hunterdon County awarded two grants that stirred this latest land preservation to the forefront, one grant to the Hunterdon Land Trust and another to Bethlehem Township, to fund 50% of the project. As the acquisition progressed, the county Department of Planning and Land Use determined this parcel to be a good fit into the Hunterdon County Parks’ system, as the land is adjacent to the county’s Tower Hill preserve.
