The Stark County Health Department will begin vaccinating the new age group as soon as the Ohio Department of Health gives the go-ahead. That s expected to be any day now, said Kay Conley, director of administration and support services at the county agency.
Stark County has vaccinated a number of 16 and 17 year olds at recent clinics, including those this week set at outlying schools in the county, she said. We’ve had a number of calls from parents asking when they can schedule their child for their vaccination, Conley said.

Right now, only the Pfizer vaccine is approved for people under 18.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Officials from Cincinnati Childrenâs Hospital Medical Center urged parents of children ages 12-15 to get their kids vaccinated during a Tuesday morning press conference.
Monday, the FDA expanded the emergency use authorization for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to 12-15-year-olds.
The vaccine is being evaluated at Cincinnati Childrenâs as part of a clinical trial involving that age group that began last year.
