Daily s Matty Holdsworth reported leaked emails had confirmed a coronavirus ward had been established at Sunshine Coast University Hospital and fever clinic plans were in place.
A 30-year-old passenger has died after a ute he was travelling in crashed into floodwaters.
The man was trapped in the backseat of the vehicle after it lost control close to the Diddillibah disability support facility in the Sunshine Coast on December 14.
He was taken to hospital in a critical condition but died on Friday.

The driver, 21, and another 19-year-old passenger were able to escape before the ute submerged in the water. The driver broke a window and was able to extricate the rear passenger from the vehicle, but the vehicle had been submerged for some time, Nambour Forensic Crash Unit officer-in-charge Sergeant Sherryn Klump said, according to the Sunshine Coast Daily.

Subscriber only A man in his 40s, understood to be a tradesman, has been taken to hospital with burns after a power board exploded at a prominent Coast school campus. Paramedics and firefighters were called to Matthew Flinders Anglican College on Stringybark Rd, Buderim, shortly after 9am on Friday, after reports of a small explosion. It was understood a power board had exploded at a job site where some renovations were being undertaken. Firefighters were called but not required, while paramedics attended and treated a man in his 40s for burns. Energex staff were called to the scene and a Queensland Police Service spokesman said officers were also tasked.

However in response the department said all information relevant to the public health alert was available at Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk s press conference and in a media release. Neither addressed which hotel the woman stayed in, the purpose of her visit or how long she was in the region for. The department also did not answer whether the woman presented at Sunshine Coast University Hospital with COVID-19 symptoms before going to Brisbane for testing.
