Police investigate serious assault at Nambour
Police are investigating a serious assault incident in Nambour last night which has left a man with head injuries.
Just after 7pm, the resident of a Mary Street unit disturbed a man breaking into his unit.
A scuffle ensued which resulted in the 53-year-old man sustaining a stab wound to his head and upper arm.
He was transported to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.
Anyone who may have witnessed or heard any suspicious behaviour in the area around 7pm is asked to contact police.
Investigations into the assault are ongoing.

Subscriber only Two young women who miraculously survived a crash with a crane in the Sunshine Coast hinterland have been released from hospital but face a long road to recovery ahead. The Mooloolah Valley women, a 19-year-old driver and 20-year-old passenger, were involved in a head-on crash with a crane at Ilkley on March 29. Police said the crash unfolded about 3pm along Ilkley Road with the car travelling west and the crane travelling in the opposite direction.
Ilkley Road was closed for several hours as a result of the crash and the matter remains under investigation by the Sunshine Coast forensic crash unit.

Subscriber only Two people have been rescued in waters off Kings Beach after they were ejected from a boat on Monday morning. A Surf Lifesaving Queensland spokeswoman said lifesavers rescued the pair after receiving a call from the Caloundra Coastguard about 8.20am. She said it was understood the pair s boat got into difficulty near the bar off Ormonde Terrace. Lifesavers brought the pair into shore where they were assessed by paramedics. A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said one person was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital after the boating incident . The spokesman said person was taken in a stable condition with a head cut. The other person was uninjured and declined treatment.
