PENSACOLA, Fla. â The 21-year wait is over. App State menâs basketball is headed back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2000.
Dustin Kernsâ Mountaineers capped an impressive Sun Belt tournament run with an 80-73 win over Georgia State Monday night, hoisting the programâs first Sun Belt trophy at the Pensacola Bay Center.
The No. 4 seed in the Sun Belt East division, App State (17-11) won four games in four days to capture its first league title since a Southern Conference crown in 2000.

Averaging 13 points and 18 rebounds at the Sun Belt Conference Championship, Arkansas State freshman forward Norchad Omier was named to the Sun Belt Conference Championship All-Tournament Team, the league office announced Monday night.
Omier scored 10 points and grabbed 18 rebounds in the Red Wolvesâ first round defeat of Georgia Southern Friday. Against Georgia State in the quarterfinals, Omier tied for a team-high with 16 points while once again pulling down 18 rebounds. The back-to-back double-doubles gave Omier his 14th and 15th double-doubles, most for any Division I freshman this season.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The national recognition continues to flow in for Coastal Carolina head coach Jamey Chadwell as he was named a semifinalist for the 2020 George Munger College Coach of the Year Award, which is presented yearly by the Maxwell Football Club. The list includes a field of 12 candidates for the award who have been selected by the MFC National Selection Committee.
