The 80-year-old baritone, best known for hits such as Sex Bomb, Delilah and a noteworthy cover of the late Prince s Kiss, is releasing his 42nd studio album this Wednesday.

There are plenty of senior citizens in pop, but not many who face up to their age. Tom Jones seemed in denial too, until, aged 68, he stopped dyeing his hair. Now here he is at 80, making an album called Surrounded By Time, which includes a song called I’m Growing Old.
It’s quite unusual.
‘I’m growing dimmer in the eyes,’ he sings. But the twinkle hasn’t left him and neither has his voice, which is still a force of nature that can suddenly switch to finesse. If albums were all about singing, this one would get five stars.
Share I look down at the floor when I walk. My son says he s noticed how when I m walking I m looking down a lot. I say that it s because I don t want to trip over, if I hit the floor, it s harder for me to get up now than when I was young.
During the interview, Tom spoke about why he moved back to London after living in LA for 41 years.
