(Seguin) The Seguin Public Library is recognizing the winners of its Seguin Talks About Race Teen Writing Contest. The contest was held in the fall, and done in conjunction with the library’s Seguin Talks About Race Initiative.
Youth Services Librarian Hannah Farmer Says they selected two winners from the contest. The winners are Ximena Izaguirre and Samuel Kuempel.
“We were very impressed by the deep thought that participants put into their writing. Both students are at Seguin High School,” said Farmer.
The students were encouraged to write 250 to 500 words about a book, comic, movie or show that has been a window into another culture or group, and then compare how that book mirrors their own life. You can read both essays on page three in today’s (01/08/21) Seguin Daily News.
