The
Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has said it has no record of a passenger airport located at Wasimi, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The Director General, Musa Nuhu, stated this when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Aviation on Tuesday.
He also informed the panel that necessary approval was granted by the agency for the construction of the proposed Gateway Agro Cargo Airport in Ilishan-Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area of the state – off the busy Sagamu-Ijebu Ode Express Road.
Disagreement
This comes on the heels of disagreement between the state governor, Dapo Abiodun and his predecessor, currently a senator, Ibikunle Amosun, regarding which of the airports should be prioritised.

Senators were, on Tuesday, divided on the pronouncements of the aviation regulatory agency, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, ( NCAA) grounding the operations of one of the local airlines, Azman Airline.
The Senate Committee on Aviation, led by Senator Smart Adeyemi had invited the Director-General of the NCAA, Captain Musa Shuaibu Nuhu for clarification on growing apprehension surrounding the safety of airlines.
Nuhu who maintained that the NCAA was doing its best to safeguard lives through surveillance and reprimand of erring airline operators further revealed that one of the local airlines, Azman was suspended because of a glaring breach of safety regulations.

The Senate Committee on Aviation, as part of its oversight functions, recently embarked on a fact-finding mission to the sites of the two airports being constructed in Ogun State. In its tradition, the Committee’s Chairman, Senator Smart Adeyemi, led four other members, Solomon Adeola, Ahmed Umar, Abba Moro and Mrs Abiodun Olujimi, on a visit to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun at his office at Okemosan, Abeokuta.
Governor Abiodun reinforced the commitment and resolve of his administration towards ensuring that the Agro-Cargo Airport situated in Ilishan-Remo is completed. The governor, who said that the project had gotten the consent of the Federal Ministry of Transportation and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), stressed that the first phase of the project is expected to be completed by May 2022.
