‘Water metres to instill importance among residents’
Minister says govt is planning to launch a pilot project in this regard.

In order to make people realise the importance of water, the federal government is planning to install water metres in the capital. A pilot project will be launched in this regard, said Science and Technology Minister Shibli Faraz. He was speaking at the meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Science and Technology on Friday.
The minister told the committee that the Pakistan Council of Research and Water Resources have carried out a lot of research on water. “We will launch a pilot project to install water metres in Sector I-10,” he said, adding that water will be metered so that it is used in a controlled manner.

The Senate Standing Committee on Science and Technology expressed on Wednesday its dissatisfaction over the quality of water being supplied across the country in the name of mineral water.
Officials of the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources told the committee that they had sealed five companies and 18 mineral water selling points in 2020 for violating safety rules.
