PITTMAN S BILLS FOR PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS PASS AT COMMITTEE LEVEL

Two bills from Senator Joe Pittman were approved by the Senate Consumer Protection and Licensure Committee on Tuesday.  The bills are designed to help physician assistants in the state. Senate Bills 397 and 398 amend the Osteopathic Medical Practice Act and the Medical Practice Act of 1985 to modernize the practice of physician assistants.  Senator Pittman called Pennsylvania one of the premier states for Physician Assistant education, but current legislation makes it less appealing for those students to stay after they earn their degree.  The changes proposed will allow more physician assistants to practice in the state.  Pittman said that physican assistants are very important, especially in rural communities.

Senate Bill 277 would allow customers to switch energy or gas providers by providing a government-issued ID or their account number. Under current law, consumers need an account number to switch. The bill also would require retail electric and natural gas suppliers and representatives selling their products to become certified through an educational course in sales and consumer protection of electric and natural gas products.

Bucks Sen Tommy Tomlinson says he has COVID-19

In a social medial post, Pennsylvania state Sen. Tommy Tomlinson announced Wednesday night that he has tested positive for COVID-19. In a Facebook post, Tomlinson, 75, of Bensalem, wrote that over the weekend he started to experience some mild flu like symptoms and after consulting with his doctor decided to get tested for the coronavirus. He received confirmation late Tuesday night that he tested positive. I am feeling well, but I am currently quarantining. Just a reminder to all that you must continue to wear a mask, wash your hands, and use social distancing to help defeat the spread, Tomlinson wrote.  He resting at home on Thursday, according to his office.
