ALBANY - You will no longer need to buy food if you go to a bar for a drink in New York.
A COVID-19 regulation in New York that required food purchases at bars and restaurants to limit mingling amid the pandemic is set to be lifted Wednesday by the state Legislature.
Legislative leaders announced Tuesday they will end the practice that Gov. Andrew Cuomo installed in July that required bars and restaurants to sell food to patrons if they were buying drinks.
Business owners have long railed against Cuomo s mandate, saying it was burdensome and unnecessary. Some bars mocked the measure, including one in Saratoga that sold Cuomo Chips for $1 to meet the edict.

DMX’s homegoing celebration on Sunday was an amalgamation of Black love and preservation of hip-hop culture.
During the rapper’s funeral service, two sisters in the movement– Erica Ford, cofounder of Life Camp, and Priscilla Echi, a community activist from Westchester county, revealed that the state of New York declared December 18– Earl “DMX” Simmons Day.
“Our New York State Senate has called December 18 Earl “DMX” Simmons Day,” Echi announced. “His lyrics were rapped on the Senate floor by Senator Jamal Bailey, who introduced a resolution in his honor.
