The first steps to a new transportation era for Northwest Tennessee began Tuesday morning, as state and county representatives, as well as Tennessee Department of Transportation members, met to kick off the paving of the new Interstate 69 Bypass in Obion County.
The bypass, which crosses over Highway 51, is a part of the massive Interstate 69 project known as “the last great American highway,” which will span from the Canadian border to the Mexican border. Three segments of the highway have been in development for more than a decade in Tennessee, and will connect Fulton, Kentucky to Memphis.
