Energy stocks rise

Energy stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Energy index increasing 53.02 points or 0.85% at 6315.72 at 09:49 IST. Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 8.58%), Mangalore Refinery And Petrochemicals Ltd (up 7.04%),Coal India Ltd (up 4.52%),Adani Total Gas Ltd (up 4.42%),Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (up 3.48%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (up 3.23%), Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd (up 3.12%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 2.8%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 1.66%), and Aegis Logistics Ltd (up 1.45%). On the other hand, Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (down 3.12%), Goa Carbon Ltd (down 2.03%), and Selan Explorations Technology Ltd (down 0.61%) turned lower.

Tamil Nadu govt urges industries to produce medical oxygen under CSR scheme

made an appeal to various industries in the state to produce medical oxygen under the CSR scheme, following a surge in COVID-19 infections in the state. Industries Minister Thangam Thennarasu said the government has requested JSW, Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (CPCL), Tamil Nadu Newsprintand Papers Ltd (TNPL) and other entities to expedite measures towards producing medical oxygen in view of an increase in demand. Tamil Nadu on Sunday recorded an all time high of 28,897 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the caseload to 13,80,259 while 236 deaths in the last 24 hours took the toll to 15,648. Thennarasu said the state government proposed to set up a facility to accommodate 300 beds equipped with oxygen support, with the help of CPCL.

Volumes stood at 3144 shares in the last session.

Among the other gainers were Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (up 1.67%), Selan Explorations Technology Ltd (up 1.54%), Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd (up 1.25%), Reliance Industries Ltd (up 1.11%), and Oil India Ltd (up 0.84%). On the other hand, Aegis Logistics Ltd (down 2.09%), Gulf Oil Lubricants India Ltd (down 1.4%), and Adani Total Gas Ltd (down 0.61%) turned lower.

Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd has added 21.66% over last one month compared to 1.1% gain in S&P BSE Energy index and 0.32% rise in the SENSEX Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd gained 7.56% today to trade at Rs 117.4. The S&P BSE Energy index is up 1.67% to quote at 6386.77. The index is up 1.1 % over last one month. Among the other constituents of the index, Mangalore Refinery And Petrochemicals Ltd increased 4.74% and Confidence Petroleum India Ltd added 2.52% on the day. The S&P BSE Energy index went up 42.77 % over last one year compared to the 53.73% surge in benchmark SENSEX. Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd has added 21.66% over last one month compared to 1.1% gain in S&P BSE Energy index and 0.32% rise in the SENSEX. On the BSE, 88043 shares were traded in the counter so far compared with average daily volumes of 54637 shares in the past one month. The stock hit a record high of Rs 132.55 on 13 Jan 2021. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 47.7 on 27 May 2020.
