Ahead of the 2021 Tamil Nadu assembly elections, TN CM E Palaniswami announced a cut in Chennai Metro fares. The fares have been brought down by Rs 20 and a ride across the entire stretch of Chennai Metro would now cost Rs 50 instead of the previous Rs 70.
