Signaling a genuine moment of optimism about the future return of theater to New York City, this morning, the marquee for Thoughts of a Colored Man was installed at the Golden Theatre making it the first new show to take up residence at a Broadway theater since the pandemic forced all plays and musicals to stop performances on March 12, 2020.

CHATHAM, N.Y. â Camille A. Brown & Dancers begin a five-week residency Feb. 15 at PS21 â Performance Spaces for the 21st Century, 2980 Route 66.

Mellon Foundation, Brown, her 12 dancers, two musicians, and a production/company manager and chef will be on PS21 s campus through March 22 where they will inhabit a COVID-Bubble, living in spacious guesthouses while developing Queens, a new solo work; reimagining Matchstick, inspired by the Great Migration; and engaging in creative play. Camilleâs artistic vision and commitment to community engagement through programs . adapted to virtual and socially distanced modes during the pandemic, and its virtual Social Dance for Social Change school dovetail perfectly with our own community service initiatives and our conceptions of the role of the arts in contemporary life, PS21 artistic and executive director Elena Siyanko said in a prepared statement.

TROY The Contemporary Circus & Immersive Arts Center (CCIAC) will present “A.Lone,” a digital full-length circus show from Friday through Sunday, Feb. 21.
The one-man show blends together circus, clowning and theater to tell the story of a lockdown that might seem familiar to viewers today.
It’s written and performed by Aaron Marquise and is centered around a lonely clown who has been quarantined on an old theater’s stage, as war rages on outside. The clown, known as A, creates a family for himself and relives some of his days spent in the limelight. Through these imaginings, he finds the courage to have hope for the future.
